Easter is more than a day

Throughout the month of May, our worship services will continue the themes of Easter and resurrection. This is part of our ongoing experience of the liturgical calendar. Throughout the month, we will continue to enjoy special music, the colors of the season, and artistic expression that will help us enter more fully into the mystery and joy of resurrection life. 'Eastertide' will conclude with Pentecost Sunday on May 23.

The Cleanup Continues!

It's amazing how much 'stuff' can be stuffed inside a church. And it's cool to find some of the treasures of our history--kind of like going through your grandparent's attic. We're still going through all the contents of our building in preparation for the renovation and we still need lots of help. Contact Pastor Mike or Mark Allen if you can assist on one (or more) of our 'Spring Cleaning Days' in May.

Smother Mother

...with love. On Sunday, May 9, we'll take time during our Sunday service to esteem those women who have brought us in the world and raised us. Each mother present will receive a gift. And we'll also honor the women who may not have had children, but who have been spiritual examples and mentors.

Attend Congress

…the Logan Square Neighborhood Association (LSNA) Congress, that is. As a member agency of LSNA, we have a great opportunity to build community by participating in this year's Congress on Tuesday, May 18, 2010. The event will be held at Mozart Elementary School starting at 6:00 pm. Due to limited space. pre-registration is required by Friday, May 7, 2010.

Boiler Makers

We know first-hand what it is like to have a boiler problem. One of our sister churches, St. David's E. C. Church, in PA, is facing a similar problem (minus the damage to their building). During the month of May, 5% of our Sunday offerings will be sent to assist them with their heating system replacement.

HPSS Meal

Our monthly time with Humboldt Park Social Services has become much more than just filling stomachs. Now, spirits are being fed by the uplifting and down-home music of Andy Willis and Pastor Mike Langer. Our next meal (and jam session) will take place on Sunday, May 23, 2010. Contact the church if you would like more information about how you can participate in preparing or serving the meal--or joining the band. By the way, everyone gets to eat great food, too.
