YOUR LIFE IS MY LIFE

Summer is often the season of violence in our community. We recognize that ending violence begins with us. So, on Saturday, June 5, 2010, we encourage you to join hundreds of other community residents on a Peace Walk. Sponsored by the Alliance of Local Service Organizations (ALSO), the 15th Annual Peace Walk will kick off from the Roberto Clemente High School (located at Division and Western) at 10:00 am and will proceed to the Humbdolt Park Boat House. Let's take a stand for peace and God's Shalom and stand with those who have been victims of violence.

The Cleanup Continues!

We're still going through all the contents of our building in preparation for the renovation and we still need lots of help. Contact Pastor Mike or Mark Allen if you can assist on one (or more) of our 'Spring Cleaning Days' in June.

Find Yourself on Cloud 9

On Saturday, June 26, we're taking individuals and families to a performance of Cirque Shanghai at Navy Pier. This imPACT trip, sponsored by the Christian Education Dept, is an affordable way for your family to build great memories. There is a fee for this event that covers round trip transportation, tickets to the show AND a voucher for lunch at the Navy Pier Food Court. The fun begins at 11:45 am.

Invest in Kids

The state budget cuts have impacted children and families. The Preschool For All program has been scaled back and fewer families will qualify for childcare subsidies. In June, 5% of our offerings will be given to Lutheran Day Nursery to enable them to maintain affordable, quality early childhood education and childcare for at-risk families.

'Trikes 4 Tikes'

If you see a tricycle or other children's riding toy at a yard or garage sale, pick it up. We're collecting them for the children at Lutheran Day Nursery. Please make sure it is in good working condition (no rust please) before you purchase it. The kids will appreciate your donation.

HPSS Meal - 1st Anniversary

Believe it or not, we have served meals at Humboldt Park Social Services (HPSS) for 1 year--and we're throwing a party! Our HPSS meal on June 27, 2010, will include a special birthday cake for everyone. And what's a party without some live music and dancing! We want everyone to enjoy the great meal and fellowship around the tables. The meal is served starting at 3:30 pm, but if you can help prepare, see Karen Guziel. A sign up sheet for meal ingredients will be distributed at the church.
