We're
a Nation of Immigrants
For centuries, people
have come to the United States seeking religious freedom, job
opportunities and a new start. We are a nation of immigrants.
But the issue of immigration reform has divided our nation and
the undocumented have become targets of hate, racism, and harassment.
On Sunday, August 22,
2010, the Logan Square Neighborhood Association Committee for
Immigration Reform in collaboration with neighborhood churches
and organizations will present a free screening of the documentary,
"Immigrant Nation". This film tells the story of Elvira
Arellano, a Chicago mother who fights her deportation with the
help of the faith community.
We encourage you to join
us at 6:00 pm at the Central Hispanic Seventh Day Adventist Church,
2840 W. Logan Blvd., for an informative and challenging evening
as we seek to integrate our faith with love for our neighbor.
Kimball Avenue Church is a sponsoring church for this event.
We are contributing 5% of our August General Fund offerings to
support the film and the LSNA Immigration Reform Committee's
work.
We're
(Still) Taking Inventory
Our final inventory of
the contents of the church will be held on Saturday, August 14,
2010, starting at 11:00 am. If you are available to help, contact
Pastor Ray or Pastor Mike.
Don't
Skip Another Meal!
Our meal with Humboldt
Park Social Services was cancelled in July due to flooding (hard
to forget that incredible storm on July 23-24). That makes our
August meal all that much more important. Our next monthly meal
will be held at 3:30 pm on Sunday, August 22, 2010. We need your
help to provide the ingredients, prepare the meal and serve our
guests. A signup sheet will be available at the church.
Brookfield
Zoo for YOU
Our August imPACT trip
