APRIL 2008

The Earth Is The Lord's

Throughout Lent, we participated in the Fantastic Drastic Plastic Fast and connected our walk with Christ to concern for the environment. Now, we're taking it a step further.

Starting Sunday, March 30, our worship and teaching will focus on the themes of Creation Care and stewardship. We will worship God, the maker of heaven and earth, and Jesus Christ, who through the cross reconciled all of creation to God. We will also discern the Biblical call to stewardship and care.

The theme will culminate on Sunday, April 20, with "Good Earth Day"-a celebration of stewardship that will include worship, practical conservation workshops, music, information booths, opportunities to contribute to creation through planting and political action. Worship will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by the celebration from Noon - 3:00 p.m.

It's YOUR Church

On Sunday, April 6, we will hold our Annual Congregational Meeting following the worship service. Each year, church members and supporters gather to hear reports from the previous year and elect officers for the coming year. Your input and participation is very important.

Spring Growth

Many people enjoyed meeting weekly during Lent to discuss our book club selection. So, we're continuing the opportunity for growth with a new Bible Study, led by Marcia Corner.

The 7-week study on the life of King David will meet each Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the church, starting April 8.

Reptile Fest

You and your family are invited to get up close and personal with hundreds of snakes, turtles, frogs, iguanas and more at Reptile Fest on Saturday, April 12. There is a fee for this event.

Our April Tithe

Being 'green' takes a lot of green. Being eco-friendly is not cheap. In fact, it is so expensive to reduce our impact on the environment that only the wealthy seem to be able to afford it. We believe that creation care is for everyone. So, this month, we are using 5% of our Sunday offerings to help those in our church and community on low or fixed incomes to purchase 'green' cleaning supplies, trash bags, recycled paper products and more. Products will be available at Good Earth Day on April 20.
